Trip Date: April 25th, 2021
A like side picnic environment Millersylvania State Park while being surrounded by tall Fir and Cedar trees made for a great daytrip. I parked down by the fishing docks at the west end of the park and walked along the shoreline for an hour or so, taking some pictures and enjoying the sun today. The painted brown logs used to build the outdoor kitchen shelters and bathroom facilities, originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), made for a classic forest park.
While observing the lake, I witnessed a Bald Eagle fly over and land in the branches of a nearby fir tree. I setup the camera and my 200mm lens and got some shots of him observing Deep Lake, looking for some fish. I ate my sandwich and chips for at least 20 minutes filming the eagle, waiting for it to fly off; patience paid off and I got the shot. Watch for the eagle footage in the video below.
