Went out for a day of overland travels in the forest, specifically looking to explore gravel we had never been on before. The National Forest road networks in the area east of Mount Rainier are extensive and provided great opportunity for some day exploration.
The day first took us on a very narrow road right along the Naches River. Had to wait on a few side by sides, but after that, the road was clear for us to proceed. Perched between the riverbanks and a cliff face, the road snakes along the river for about a mile, going from narrow to super narrow. At one point, the cliff even overhangs the road!
Next, we found a road that went up the mountain into the forest, and got away from the cabins and homesites near Cliffdell, Washington.
