“The Rockies” of the Cascade Mountains

Trip Date: May 29th, 2021

A late spring daytrip to the Snoqualmie National Forest today, looking to visit the area between Alder Lake and Riffe Lake. Despite the warm weather of late, there was still plenty of snow in the shaded areas of the terrain once the elevation rose above a few thousand feet. The goal today was to just get out into the forest with Emma and enjoy some of the peace and tranquility that the Cascade mountain range has to offer. We traveled up the gravel Forest Road 74 for a few miles, until our route was blocked by snow across the road. This was a good place to stop and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of nature for a while. After spreading out a blanket for the dog lay upon and unfolding my camp chair to sit in, Emma and I spent a good hour relaxing in the forest surroundings.
