Trip Date: June 26th, 2022
An overnight camping trip in the Mount Baker – Snoqualmie National Forest was the plan this weekend, but other than that, no formal destination we decided upon. We did some exploring up the Little Naches River and found ourselves a few miles up a side gravel road, deep in the forest. At the end of the road, at a small trailhead parking lot, there was an excellent dispersed campsite available for us to use for the night.
After a wet spring season, the wildflowers were making a strong showing on this early summer outing. Many of the flowers are white, maybe with a little bit of accents or highlights, but others have deep colors that almost seem unnatural.
It was still early in the summer season, with cool temperatures in the evening. As the sun ducked down behind the local terrain at our campsite the surrounding mountain peaks began to be painted red in the setting sunlight. We all had a great evening relaxing at the campsite, enjoying the sights, sounds and scents the forest had to offer.
